Arcanian Parish
Arcanian Parish, my recent photo collage series, refers to a fictional parish in 19th century Louisiana. The term Arcanian, a coinage derived from the word arcane, stems from the Latin word arcana which means secret or hidden and was often used in reference to the mysteries of the physical and spiritual worlds. Created from 3 centuries of photography, these pieces depict the untold stories of men in their clandestine worlds in 1800s Louisiana, exploring themes of friendship, love, nature, home, religion, death, and the afterlife.
