The Sacred Ascension of Silas Broussard, 30” x40” aluminum print, edition of 12. Part of the Tableaux Montage series combining historic imagery with my photography. In this piece Silas Broussard, seated on horseback and adorned in robe and crown, partakes in a holy ceremony celebrating his departure from this world and his ascension into the next. A young man plays fiddle while Silas’ partner, trumpet in hand, prepares his requiem as a murder of crows passes overhead. A holy man, standing quietly with his dog, holds the reins of a horse cloaked in mourning dress, ready to lead Silas on his final earthly journey.
