Arcanian Parish
The Cypress Elegy, 30” x 40”. Part of the Arcanian Parish series combining my photography of a Louisiana swamp with historic imagery from the 19th century. In this piece, a bearded man sits atop a freshly cut cypress tree playing an elegy for the felled tree on his banjo. Behind him he is accompanied by a guitar player sitting in a canoe and a fiddle player standing in the backwaters. Overhead flies an ivory billed woodpecker while a pair of curious catfish circle the stump below. Gold award - Fine Art/Collage category 2024 Prix de La Photographie de Paris.
